Policemens

Per Illinois Statutes, the terms of two members of the Retirement Board of the Policemen’s Annuity and Benefit Fund will be expiring November 30, 2018. One (1) member who represents the Annuitants & One (1) Member who represents the active members of the Police Department of the rank of Patrolman, Investigator, or equivalent rank will be subject to election. On Thursday, October 25, 2018, an election will be held for these positions. Only ballots received in the post office lock box by 9:00am, Thursday, October 25th will be counted.

Board Sufficiency Hearing to be held on Friday, October 5th, 2018, at 9:00 a.m. to approve the candidates and ballots for the two upcoming Trustee Positions. Terms expire November 30, 2018.

The election of Patrolman representative trustee will be supervised by an independent accounting firm and all balloting will be conducted through U.S. Mail. Only ballots received in the post office lock box by 9:00am, Thursday, October 25th will be counted.

File Petitions

Wednesday, September 26, 2018 – Tuesday, October 2, 2018 (9:00 am – 4:00 pm; M-F)

Every person to become a candidate at any election shall personally file a suitable petition in the office of The Retirement Board not more than thirty (30) days nor less than twenty five (25) days before the date of any election.

Petition Inspection

Wednesday, October 3, 2018, & Thursday, October 4, 2018

On the first business day following the last day for filing nominating petitions, all petitions so filed shall be open to public inspection in the office of The Retirement Board, and the sufficiency of any petition may be challenged in writing on or before the second day following the last day for filing such petitions.

Board Sufficiency Hearing

Friday, October 5, 2018 9:00 am

On the third day following the last day for filing petitions, The Retirement Board shall pass upon the sufficiency of all nominating petitions filed, and the findings of the Board, as to the sufficiency of any petition, shall be final.

Mail Ballots

October 10 – 15, 2018

Not more than fifteen (15) days nor less than ten (10) days before Election Day, the independent accounting firm shall cause a voting unit to be mailed to each person entitled to vote.
