Original Date - Monday, August 17, 2020 • Postponed to Monday, August 31st.

The Chicago Police Pension Fund election for Lieutenant, or rank superior to Lieutenant, member and Sergeant member of the Retirement Board schedluled for Monday, August 17, 2020 has been postponed to Monday, August 31, 2020. The new deadline for ballots to be received at the U.S. Post Office in order to be counted as valid is now 9am on August 31, 2020.

Policemens
  • 1. Lieutenant, or rank superior to Lieutenant, Representative

  • The term of one (1) elected member of the Retirement Board of the Policemen’s Annuity and Benefit Fund (Board), for any active member of the rank of Lieutenant or rank superior to Lieutenant is vacant due to a retirement. According to the Illinois Pension Code, one (1) member of the Board is to be elected from among the active members of the Police Department of the rank of Lieutenant, or rank superior to Lieutenant, as a successor to serve for the remainder of the unexpired term, and will thereafter fill the position for the 3-year term ending November 30, 2023.

    Any active member of the Police Department of the class rank of Lieutenant, or rank superior to Lieutenant, may become a candidate by filing a petition signed by at least twenty-five (25) members of his or her own class rank who are qualified to vote in the election.

  • 2. Sergeant Representative
  • The term of one (1) elected member of the Board, for any active member of the class rank of Sergeant, is vacant due to a promotion. According to the Illinois Pension Code, one (1) member is to be elected from among the active members of the Police Department of the rank of Sergeant as a successor to serve for the remainder of the unexpired term, and will thereafter fill the position for the term ending November 30, 2023.

    Any active member of the Police Department of the class rank of Sergeant may become a candidate by filing a petition signed by at least twenty-five (25) members of his or her own class rank who are qualified to vote in the election.

    Pick Up Petitions

    Petition blanks have been prepared and will be available June 29 – July 10, 2020, at www.chipabf.org or in the Policemen’s Annuity and Benefit Fund (PABF) office, 221 North LaSalle Street; Room 1626, between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.

    File Petitions

    The petitions of candidates must be filed during the period July 13 - July 17, 2020, both dates inclusive, at the PABF Office, 221 North LaSalle Street; Room 1626, from 9:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. Candidates’ positions on the ballot shall be determined by the order in which the petitions are filed.
